Claude Code Skills 101

Prerequisites: Install Claude Code

Before building your skill, you need Claude Code installed and running. Claude Code is Anthropic's CLI tool for working with Claude directly in your terminal.

Install Claude Code:

• Visit claude.ai/code for installation instructions
• Requires: Node.js 18+, an Anthropic account (Max plan or API key)
• Available on macOS, Linux, and Windows (WSL)

Quick install:

npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code

Verify it works:

claude --version

Once Claude Code is running, you can create and invoke skills. All steps in this module require Claude Code.
